Top tips for the September Weekend
Cameron
With the long September Weekend upon us, we’re spoiled for choice for things to do and events to attend in Glasgow. So we’ve come up with a few suggestions to get you started, because we’re nice like that.
for the art aficionados
Stop by The Argyle Street Arches to see the restoration of Scotland’s only recorded Banksy murals. Covered with grey emulsion paint back in 2007, these important artworks are now being restored on site so the public can see the progress.
for the fancy foodies
And while you’re there, grab some grub at Platform in The Arches – where ten of Scotland’s best independent street food vendors have set up shop to serve tasty, locally-sourced bites. In a city with a few too many fast food chains, it’s the perfect antidote.
for the language lovers
Snag a bargain this weekend at The Language Hub’s two-day book fair. With foreign-language books for adults and children alike, plus entertainment for the kids while you’re there, there’s definite browsing potential.
for the crafty kids
Make a masterpiece (or a mess) at Saturday Morning Art Club in The Gallery of Modern Art, suitable for 3 to 12 year olds. Bring your kids along to this week’s workshop, where they’ll be making and decorating pots.
for the clubbers
SWG3 is hosting a Basement Jaxx DJ set tomorrow night, and there are still a few last-minute tickets available. Oh My Gosh, better be quick for this one!
